Ladies, as you get out of your wool turtlenecks and warm gloves, watching spring roll in may give you a moment of panic, so what do you wear when you come out of hibernation? Here are a few fashion pairings that can ease you into the spring/summer season in style!
- Crinkled scarves and sleeveless summer dresses
Pull out a favorite summer dress from last year and team it with a crinkled scarf in linen, cotton, or silk. Find a color that the dress and scarf have in common. Get extra fashion points if you’re mixing prints!
- Maxi dresses and roomy totes
With Farmer’s Markets up and rolling again, wear a maxi dress and carry a roomy tote big enough to stash lettuce, carrots, and green cabbage.
- Oversized sunglasses and stacks of bangles
Nothing says spring more than an oversized pair of sunglasses. Balance the scale of the frames with a stack of bangles on your wrist.
- Skinny rolled up jeans and flowy tunics
Try a lighter shade of blue denim skinnies with a floral sheer flowy tunic and a camisole underneath.
- Flared jeans and strappy sandals
Dive into the retro flared jean style and add those oh-so-cool strappy flat sandals. The flares will grab attention so make sure those sandals are just right.
- Vibrant neons and subtle neutrals
You’ll see this in the magazines: blush pink with hot orange, smoky gray with bright turquoise, sand with acid-green. Try it yourself! Look at T-shirts, pants, and lightweight jackets and create a color combo like this. It’s very modern. Consider a handbag in a vibrant neon shade and wear it against white, sand, or soft gray pants.
- Blue jeans and bright red lips
These two items are standalone classics. They look great together and will give you a way to leap into spring in a flash.
- Long layered tee under a short, cropped jacket
This is a perfect combo for breezy spring evenings. You may still need long sleeves to keep comfortable but if a heat wave shows up, trade the long sleeves out for a sleeveless tee.
- Up-dos and large earrings
Is it hot enough to get your hair up and off your neck? Bring on the big hoops or chandelier earrings. No one will be able to take their eyes off of you!
- White jeans and a white cotton top
White tops are filling stores right now. The time for white is right now. You may want to buy three white tops – one with sheerness, one with cut outs (eyelet), and one with lots of tucks. Your top will add texture and interest. You’ll mix and match these tops throughout the coming weeks with other skirts or pants in other colors.
