What the heck is fatty liver disease? I get that question all the time from my patients. The disease is gaining in popularity and is on the rise especially in younger women. People get confused by the term fatty liver and they think it means that they are fat-No it means that your liver has an overabundance of fat in it, causing it to not perform as well as it should be. While it is common for women who are overweight and have it, it can come from other things such as genetics, having diabetes, or high triglycerides.
25 %-30% of the population has some form of fatty liver disease. Women out rank men by a little when it comes to this disease.
Most people don’t even know they have it until they come in for a physical and have regular lab work done.
So, what is it and how does one get rid of it- well my friend I’m glad that you asked as that is what today’s episode is all about.
We dive into:
What are the 3 types of fatty liver disease
What foods to avoid if you have it
Food you should be focusing on
Herbs to help cleanse your liver
Superfoods you should be including in your diet
And lastly detox drinks to help flush your liver
